Info about Twin Coves
The Twin Coves beaches in front of the house are among the nicest in the Bahamas. They are comprised of two beaches, each half a mile long, that meet at a sandy spit that connects to a small coral island (called "Bluff Cay") just offshore. The beach in front of the house is unique in that it is naturally protected both by the cay and the large reefs located about a half mile off shore. These two factors conspire to provide a tranquil place to enjoy a swim, and the placid waters next to the sandy spit are an absolutely ideal and very safe location for children or toddlers to play. Also the coral reefs that stretch away in all directions provide unlimited opportunities to explore with snorkeling or diving gear.

The house is surrounded by coconut trees, and flowering plants such as bouganvillea, hibiscus and oleander among other things. A quiet late afternoon walk around the gardens can provide a nice break from the beach and the house.

The house has a fully-equipped kitchen, with a propane gas range, toaster-oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender, juicer and two full size refrigerators. We tend to use one refrigerator for beverages and the other for food.

The bedrooms sit at each of the four "corners" of the house. The master bedroom, with private bathroom, dressing room and television has a view out to the point and the small cay just offshore. The yellow bedroom is smaller but has a feeling of being surrounded by the ocean and many of our guests call it their favorite room of the house.  It is closest to the beach with a view of the sea and some cliffs at the end of the beach. The black and white bedroom is at the back of the house and offers privacy and a view of the gardens and out to the point. The blue bedroom is the smallest of the four bedrooms and is often used as a children's room. It is located off the kitchen with a view over the driveway out to the gardens.

In addition to the kitchen appliances, other amenities include a TV with full digital satellite service including movie channels, a DVD player, a compact stereo system with CD and cassette player, a cordless phone and a fax machine.

There are a crib, a portable crib, and a high chair for our smaller guests.
Twin Coves is located almost at the mid point of the 100 mile long island of Eleuthera. It is about two miles from the town of Governor's Harbour, one of the largest settlements on the island. It is very secluded and the closest neighbor is located approximately one half of a mile away.

The house was built in the 1950s by Sir Roland Symonette, who was the Governor of the Bahamas.

The large, bright living room is in the center of the house and has a picture window with a view of the large terrace and the turquoise waters of the nearby sea. On the other side it looks over a smaller terrace and the gardens.

The large sea-side terrace forms a semicircle from one corner of the house to the other. Its edge is just steps away from the beach. There are several chaise lounges, chairs and a table. Tropical plantings line the terrace.
